Just when you feel like I finally got my act together...there is always someone one step ahead! Do you ever feel like that? I mean I know we are not supposed to compare ourselves or success to others but sometimes it's just so hard! The other day, my reality check came in the form of pasta sauce.
As a working mother and wife I LOVE also being able to cook for my family. I really enjoy it most of the time even though it can be a pain or a lot of planning or whatever but I do love it. I was on top of the world because I made (with my own two hands) lasagna, apple pie, apple sauce and energy bites in one night. I was the freakin next Food Network Star already. Ramsay couldn't even scream his head off because I was on point, I'm telling you.
Anyway, the next day, I was on a roll and decided I should probably make beef stew in the crock pot so I could have a few days worth of food lined up. I mean, it's 85 degrees here in Hawaii but it's fall in my mind so beef stew sounded like a good idea. As I arrived at a play date for the kid the other mom asked about my fall crockpot endevor and I obviously told her how awesome I was ( like in the most humble way possible).
Immediately she took out her crock pot and decided to make pasta sauce for later. Homemade. Pasta sauce. Stop it. I was like for real?? I should be making my own pasta sauce too?? Ugh. It sounds so stupid but really I was all up in my feelings about it. All of a sudden, I felt like I should be doing more and making more and for sure not buying pasta sauce in a jar because she was telling me how easy it was as she was doing everything right before my eyes.
After stewing on it while eating my beef stew (which was BOMB btw, just sayin...) I realized that keeping up with the Jones's for moms is real. I am not perfect. I am never going to have it all together all the time. All I can do is all I can do and that's enough. I need to take a step back next time and know that even if I went out and got fast food every night of the week, it would be o.k. I just have to do me!
Anyway in the spirit of doing me, new designs are in the works and I can't wait to share them all with you. For now I have this great girls weekend hat that will put a smile on your faces. Best Weekend Ever is my answer to all the party girls out there who might not be going to a bachelorette party but still wanna get down with their peeps! Let me know what you think, if you want different colors or extra graphics or whatever! I'm excited to hear from you :)
